In fact, there are many hauntingly fun and ghoulishly garish activities and Halloween events during this time of year. That’s why Denver is one of the best places to live whether you’re a college student at the University of Denver or another school in the area.
With that said, you’re definitely in for a great treat this year because there are many eerie and spectacular events surrounding Halloween. So if you’re looking for a fright or just a fun party to attend – or maybe a haunted house or two – then you are absolutely in luck because we’re going to tell you about the top college friendly places to check out this Halloween season. So stick around to discover the scariest, most exciting places to go to have a screaming good time.
Haunted Field of Screams
The Haunted Field of Screams is one of the scariest, freakiest, and most frightening haunted houses and fields you’ll ever come across in the Denver area. This exciting yet terrifying haunted attraction can be found at 10451 McKay Road, Thornton, CO 80233, which makes this one of the largest and most frightening attractions in the area.
Believe it or not, the haunted field is 35 acres long and it’s the most fearsome cornfield you’ll ever see. Besides that, it also has four unique attractions on the premises that make the experience bone chilling, creepy, and memorable as ever.
While there, you have the opportunity to check out all four haunted events. There is the Zombie Paintball Massacre, the Dead Man’s Maze, the CarnEvil, and an attraction known only as Condemned! So, all of you college students looking for a frightening yet fun time, we highly recommend checking out the Haunted Field of Screams before It disappears for another year.
This attraction is open from September 28 to the 30th, October 4 to the 7th, October 11 to the 14th, October 18 to the 21st, October 25 to the 28th, and it’s also open on October 31, which is obviously Halloween.
Victorian Horrors
The interesting thing about Victorian Horrors is that the good people at the Molly Brown House Museum have come up with an interesting way to take people on a literary journey of sorts. Participants will hear frightening tales from some of their favorite authors including H.P. Lovecraft, Orson Welles, and Edgar Allen Poe to name a few.
These tales are not only attention-grabbing and a bit freaky. They will also sear your soul, practically drive you to madness, and make you experience unspeakable horror like you never imagined possible. It truly is a frightening event and one that you will never soon forget because it will scare the heck out of you and make you wish you stayed home to read a trashy romance novel instead!
The cool thing about this event is it’s entering its 25th year, so you can expect them to go all out and make this theater experience one for the ages. As you walk through the darkened mansion, you are going to hear six tales that will terrorize you and chill you to your bones as well.
Victorian Horrors begins on October 12th from 6 to 9 PM. It’s also available to college students and other members of the community on October 13th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 25th, 26th, and 27th. Just to let you know, dates are selling out fast so if you have a particular day you’d like to go, make sure you contact them and get your tickets ahead of time because they might not be available if you wait too long.
The 13th Floor Haunted House
Next, we have The 13th Floor Haunted House. College students are going to practically flip out because Fangoria Magazine, which is completely dedicated to horror and fright, has anointed this house as “the #1 scariest haunted attraction in the US.” So if you are truly looking to get frightened and you really want to get into the Halloween spirit this year, you definitely need to visit the 13th Floor to get scared out of your wits and have an amazing time with other college students and friends.
As a guest at the house, you are going to tour this terrifying place and experience horror and soul searing pain like never before – though you’re not actually going to be in any real pain. You are going to find out why so many buildings do not add a 13th floor. And you’ll have a tale to tell your friends and relatives that’ll be so fear-provoking that they’ll hardly believe that it’s even true.
This haunted house comes back every September in a new location. There will be intricate sets, a cast of scary characters that will startle you beyond belief, and the makeup and special effects are bound to blur your vision in the throes of terror.
For all of you college students who love to get a good fright during the Halloween season, The 13th Floor Haunted House is definitely where all of the scares and screams are at this year.
Feel free to check them out this year at 3400 E. 57th Ave. in Denver on September 28 through the 30th, October 3 through the 7th, October 9 through the 14th, and October 16 through the 31st. Guess what? They’re even hanging around in November this year so you can visit from November 2 through the 3rd and November 9 through the 10th if you’re still in the mood for another fright.
